Cougar released in delaware
A friend of mine said that a black cougar was released in dover delaware because of the heavy deer population i was wondering if any one else has heard if that was true or not

RE: Cougar released in delaware
Think about that statement. Why would they release a predator into the general population ? Dont you think people would be a tad pissed if a cougar started showing up at the mall & stuff ? Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see

RE: Cougar released in delaware
a friend of yours told u that a "black" cougar was released in dover??? nice.
think...think...think.... b4 time is up...a cougar may reside in DE sometime -somewhere, if not already, but it will not be a black cougar planted by a govt agency. |
RE: Cougar released in delaware
highly unlikely released from a state agency and most likely not a black one.
black cats that size is a black jaguar and not a cougars. cougars are not black and there is a hugh difference between a cougar and a jag. nonetheless......you'll like this http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjo...econfirms.html |

TWalls,
I don't know if your from Delaware or how familiar you are with the Dover area or Fish & Wildlife. If F&W would do such a foolish thing, every Tom Dick and Harry would find out within 24hrs. I heard about courgar sightings about 4 yrs ago from a very close friend. There are a handful of people that have seen a courgar in Northern Kent/Southern New Castle. I didn't believe it! I called F&W and s/w with someone re the rumor. I was told there had been sightings and it was possible there was a courgar(s) in Delaware that might have escaped from a private owner and migrated from PA via the river or marsh area. Very easy to do for a cougar. If I remember correctly there was some talk on the local news and papers about courgar sightings 3-4 yrs ago. What Delaware does have is a few Coyotes. Nobody wants to talk about them, but they are here & F&W knows it. When and if they take a foothold - look out. Those critters will prey upon anything that moves in the woods and a few pets now and then. Best thing to do is call F&W in Dover and ask them about the courgar rumor. |
RE: Cougar released in delaware
I really doubt ANY DNR on the east coast would release a cougar into a heavily populated area because of a high deer population. But after reading this board it seems tehy must be doing just that because apparently every state on the East Coast is LOADED with them!

RE: Cougar released in delaware
sorry guys, the cat iv seen is not black but a dark tan female. I posted it on you web cougardaville. I beleive it to be the same cat that was in the local papers in the laurel, seaford area that scared everyone for several months. But that cat was reported in the papers to be black, i beleive. I will remind you that this is an eye witness, not hearsay. Iv seen it twice. And a lot of tracks in my back yard, not 100 ft from my back door
