Rumors of Elk in WV
 

i am a bowhunter from southern WV and i have been hearing rumors that elk have migrated from kentucky into WV. i have no idea if this is true or not, i was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this or know anything about the elk heard in KY

They could have wandered over....but with the threat of CWD still looming, WV won't be introducing them on purpose anytime soon.

I hunt in McDowell and last year in Buccannon County VA which boarders McDowell a man killed one. He tried to check it in and was fined because of no hunting season on them in VA. The rumor is true. I read it in the Bluefield daily telegraph last year.

I am sure they are there in WV as they are in VA.
tdh not sure if you are aware but there is a season on elk in Va including buccannon co.Has been sine 2000.Here is a link to read about harvest data...

Yes, it's true. On numerous occassions, I've heard them bugling. A number of my friends thought I was crazy until they heard it for themselves.
