NJ guys ...might sound weird , but ....

I know its not rocket science , but I have a ML and no clue how to use it. Well a clue , but not properly or the main issue, safely. My dad and I bought them last year , but he got sick ( cancer ) and didnt hunt last year and prob not this yr. So my question is would any of you guys mind meeting me at the range and helping me out ? Not to proud to ask for help , especially regarding firearms. Open to time & place , well south of Philly if possible. Only ranges by me are Millville & Omaladden ( DE ).
Thanks Guys ....

Slugman,

Glad to help but I'm up north. You may want to first read the manufacturer's manuals and then sign up for the NJ Muzzleloader course. It's a basic introduction and you will also need it to hunt with muzzloader in NJ.

Is it "cap" or real "flint lock"?

The freely available NJ "Hunter Education Independent Study Guide" (chapter 6 page 62) has a chapter that contains:

- key terms/definitions
- selecting a muzzleloader
- powder info/specs/granulations
- barrel info
- basic accessory list

Some links:

Good luck. I cannot wait to build my own some day (one of those w/ the really long barrel). Finish the wood real nice....

It's going to be September 18th, but I'm not sure where. Again, as NJBowman said, contact Doug Brown or Matt Bradway. These are two great guys & the'll have all the info on the Southern Jamboree.

Doug Brown's email is [email protected]
Matt Bradway's email is [email protected]

Slugman,
I'm fairly new to ML's as well, just bought a CVA Staghorn this year, took a couple mini courses, read a couple books & have it shooting pretty good. Just mounted a scope on it & sighted it in on Friday.
Listen, I shoot at the Winslow WMA range. I don't know how close you are to it but,E-mail me & I'll let you know the next time I will be at the range.
By the way what date did you sign up for the ML course?
