Bear Hunting in Maine

I do not need a guide persay, but need information and/or help regarding the best area of eastern Maine for bear hunting. I need someone to establish some working baits prior to my arrival. Scott Pontz 231-832-2457

i thought about doing the same thing but i just dont think i could trust someone to go and bait everyday for a month. i also dont know about the local laws but i think in maine you have to register your bait and sites on paper company land use to be 50$ each. good luck though!

Yes you do have to register it and have your name somewhere at a stand near the bait, I was up there 4 or 5 years ago and the guide service explained all that to me, whenI saw that post I was thinking good luck with that idea. Those guys have to buy those baits from candy companies, bread bakeries, donut shop, butcher shops, whatever. My trip cost me $700. including food, lodging , transportation to the stand, it is a little higher now I understand , but it was worth it.....

When I bear hunted Main they used a dead horse as one of thier baits. Most discusting thing I ever saw. All the other baits were cuts from the local butcher shop and worked much better.
