Hey what do ya know I'm from Auburn too.[:-]

I've heard of them being caught on Cayuga too. I've also talked to the guy that caught a Sturgeon there last year. I have no clue how or where to fish for them. I don't get over to Cayuga too much. I have my hands full with Owasco.;):D

I spent 2 years in Ithaca for school and fished the lake for bass. The North end was awesome in the spring.

Does anyone still go to the annual run of alewives or whatever those small fish are???? Loads of fun.

Go over to Farley's Point on the east side of the lake south of Frontenac Island, there is a large bay there full of lilly pads. It's usually loaded with carp and gar. On a sunny day the gar lay just under the surface. I haven't been there yet this year but last year I saw them there several times. Another good spot is supposed to be the shallows north of the railroad bridge heading toward the canal and the locks, I personally haven't looked in the area though.

Those little fish would be the tasty smelt.......they don't seem to be around much anymore.

RE: cayuga

I think it is the only island, I've never heard or seen any others and there aren't any on my map. The island is south of hibiscis harbor. If you follow the channel from the railroad bridge heading south you will see it eventually. It's a very good fishing spot.
