Deer dropings
 

I went out scouting the other day and drop some apples on a deer run. To see is they were using that path. Today, I went to check the apples they where gone and each site I found deer dropings. My question to every one is, when a deer eats any food, does it go to the bathroom close to the area?

I have found out alot of droppings in one area is usually either where they are bedding or feeding.You will find droppings along their routine route to and from their feeding and bedding area,but if you find where there is piles of it in one area it is a feeding or bedding area.

Pick up one of the pellets, break it open, put it in your mouth, chew softly, squish it around like wine. If it tastes like apples, you have your answer! <img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>

I read in an article once that deer will leave droppings approximately 14 times a day. Who got the job of monitoring this activity, we'll never know!

I have a lot of deer dropping questions. Should I go to &quot;Ask Jeeves&quot; for the answers? For example, do big deer do big pellets? Why is it clumped sometimes and does that hurt? Can I tell what it is feeding on by the pellet?

if it is clumped together, they're feeding on greens, and if it is individual, they're eating bark and other stuff like that. you cant tell the deer by the size of the droppings

There are a couple small outfits here in Maine that make jewelry out of deer and moose droppings. What better way to show your spouse you still love them than giving a pair of deer dropping ear rings!<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
