Pa licenses go on sale soon

1st of july, This will be my first year since 1950 I wont be hunting. Tough decision but all things come to a end. With the combination of my health the lack of quality hunting property and the reduction in deer pop all contributed to a hard ,but responsible decision. I,m buying a license ,but just will frame it along with a pile of doe permits. The property I hunted has been sold ,2600 acres, and the hired sharp shooters that were OKAYED by he PGC to eliminate the heard will start their activity at the end of august . It wont take them to long. The heard in the past 3 years has dwindled to a hand full anyway. To bad we cant transport them to northern Pa.Just the sign of the times in S.E. Pa. After all we need another 1500 homes for the city slickers that want to live in the country and make it just like the asphalt jungle they came from. Thats progress you Know????? The for sale sign for my place goes up tomorrow ,They can have the land of taxes and outrageous prices. I will park a motorhome on 300 acres in south Texas 83.00 a year taxes by the way and let you all have the northeast. Dont forget to send for your doe permits and then burn the babies.A unpopular belief, but I'm going out flaming.

cardeer,

Sorry to see you go and your hunting land...

I can't wait to get my PA liscense and doe permits. That much closer to actually hunting deer again. I'm going to give bow a shot again this year, so my wife can give me more grief.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the heat in Texas. I was in Houston and Galveston a few years back in August. No one on the beach since it was about 120 degrees. They enjoy the beach in the winter and hibernate from the heat in the summer, in air conditioning, so I hope motorhome has air to keep you cool.

Are you getting a dish so you can still connect to the internet?

T

Hey Cardeer, I don't like to see anyone loose thier hunting property, You are more than welcome to hunt some of mine. We aren't that far apart if I am correct in remembering where you live. ONly about 8 miles if I am right. I have a 1200 acre farm that has some hunting pressure but not much. It is easily hunted adn you shouldn't have a problem getting around. Let me know. Pat

I will be hunting in Pa, but in a totally new area since the deer population is hosed where we used to hunt. Sad thing is it was in the middle of a State Forest ! Our camp is the last of the 4 camps on our road to close its doors for hunting season. A relative paid pretty decent money to purchase a camp years ago and now it is all but worthless except for summer picnics and horseshoes. 10 years ago the state forest was a decent place to hunt, all four camps on this road were being used for hunting and we knew just about everyone who hunted (or knew which camp they went to), but slowly they have all moved on as the deer dried up.

I am now hunting on farm in the south, moving in on other hunters and making the competition harder for them but thats the way it is going to be in pa, keep the large state forests in Loooooow deer populations and push hunters out of thier camps and traditions.

I think it sucks that the state has so little regard for peoples investments, but as the deer managers said in thier January meeting in Harrisburg - "get used to seeing less deer".

Thanks PGC, ..... for nothing.

Hello CD...It has been a long time. What you described down there has happened here too! It sickens me to see the woods and fields gobbled up for $400K homes. The so called politicians promoting the "save open space" seem to turn their backs to count their money while the building just continues...My job and family are here so for now I must stay. My hunting land looks to be safe for another year.

Chickory , i will be up in teh Allegheny national forest , and i hear you on the overkill on deer , when i started hunting 4 sesasons ago when i turned 12 , i would go out the first 2 days of buck and see 50 - 60 deer , and sometimes 5 or 6 buck , but now i go and i see 3 or 4 deer all weekend and thats uaually all doe , but on the upside , all the buck i saw last year that were shot , would be on my wall , not one dink was slammed , so i think the antler restrictions r good , but they r getting way way too kill happy on the doe in some areas , i guess our reasearchers and new WMU's arent so studied after all... they think all the studies they do on captive deer , and deer they snag in fields is helping , but they need to get their asses out in teh woods and actually see how it really is!

Pat I'm to stupid to get a E-mail to you on sight, Please send me one at [email protected]. I sent a complete e-mail and it got lost. I basically sent you a hunters resume,my ethical beliefs,My physical condition,my desire to spend much time sitting in my chair , My desire to stay away and not wanting to interfere with the regulars. I hunt bow, early muzzy, early disabled gun and the regular 2 week season. Maryland -bo-hunter has hunted with me and can vouch for me. I appear crazy, but really looking past my hair, beard and vehicles I,m insane,LOL
