What I learned from this message board
 

Some reasons why I am grateful for this board:
1.) I found out that there was going to be a special NY Youth Turkey Hunt this year. I have a 13yr son who is anxious to go and we are both elated at this news. I would not have known of this if it wasn't for this board. Now NY, have other Youth hunts.
2.) PA Antler Restrictions may not be as bad as I thought.
3.) There really are not wild cougars in Southern NY State.
4.) There are a lot of nice people in the World.
5.) I found out that button bucks do drop their "antlers" in the winter.
and many others.
One question I have. I am in the market for a scouting camera. The kind you hang on trees and take pictures when movement is detected. I would like to buy a digital camera , but don't wish to spend the $300. I was looking at the 35mm cameras. If I get this one, since I don't develop film at home, in order to see what my camera took, do I have to get the film developed each time? How do others use their scouting camera? I would be interested in your experiences with them. Thank you.

i think you should go digital bc if you get a film one, then it might be snapping pics of chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits and stuff. if you get a digital, then you can delete junk pics.

CattNY, this site is a great place that's very friendly and helpful for the most part. There's a reason this is the best place on the net to talk hunting stuff!:D As far as your learning that AR aren't all bad....well, we try!! :D;)

i bought a stelth trail cam for around 100 dollars it takes 35 mil film and worked out great pics where real nice and i too enjoyy the huntingnet been comm ing in for 3 years now good talks and gr88 info as well ;)

These forums definitely are a great place to gather good info. We have some very knowledgable folks here.

As for trail cams, I have been using a typical 35 mm one. Actually it is the least expensive trail cam produced....the Stealthcam MC2-G. Here is a shot from a few weeks ago....

The only drawback I can see with the digital style cams is if you hunt on heavily pressured land and it is likely to get stolen. I would rather be out $70 than $300...;)

Are there any digital trail cams that take color images?

I would definately go with a digital. I just bought one a couple of weeks ago. I have had it in the woods for about 7 days now and have over 200 pictures. If this was a 35mm cam and I had to buy and develope this film (about 8 rolls of 24 exp), it would have cost me over $80 - in one week. Granted I have the delay between pictures set at 30 seconds, but it doesn't matter with digital. As mentioned before, you can just delete the pictures you don't like. All digital are in color by the way. The cam I have uses an Olympus D-380 digital camera. I can take the camera out and use it on vacation or family events also. I bought a Lakota and they were great to deal with:
