4th Annual NE Get Together
 

It's that time of year again to start the planning. Every year we try to make it a better one than the year before. The 1st one was at Cardeer's in the Reading area of Pa, the 2nd one was at Big Buck Brannigans on the Eastern Shore (Kent Island) of Md and last year it was at DaveH's fantastic place in North Centeral Md just off of I95. What we need is who is interested in hosting it this year, I know Dave said he would host it again and I think that would be great but I am only one voice. One suggestion, every year it has been held in the dead middle of summer and it has been really hot. Maybe we can look at early June this year so it won't be so bad shooting the bows. Plenty of good people, pictures, good food, shooting and lie telling. I will get Cardeer to come again and last year Tazman brought his son whom was home from Iraq. ArticBowman sent down from Alaska some various kinds of game and a video of his lifestyle up there. It's open to any and all members and family who's interested. Let's get the planning going with who will host it and who will attend.

Rick, I had talked to Dave and Charlie about perhaps having it here this year. I have the acreage for camping, extra couches, etc. That way people would not have to worry about where to stay. There is also a Holiday Inn express and other facilities less than 10-15 miles away. Not sure if it is would be a go as it is pretty far away for most folks that attend....However, just a thought. Ya'll let me know as I would love to have everyone here.

Either way and whatever is decieded, I will do my best to be there again this year! And in a timely fashion I might add. LMAO!!!;):D

Christine you were the main one I wanted to meet last summer and I left just a little too early, story of my life, a day late and a dollar short. It makes no difference to me hwere it is I will be there good Lord willing.

As Rick said, we would love to host it again. I had already decided to NOT have it in July because the heat and humidity is merciless at that time of year. June is also what I was thinking. We don't want to "hog" it though if someone else really wants to host it--like Christine. Since I work most weekends, I schedule it on the few weekends I have off, but will make every attempt to be there if it's held somewhere else.

Dave H has the spot for it and not too far for Cardeer to travel. I wish I had a larger place. Christine whatI meant by my previous statement is that my buddies abd I have been looking for land in WV, we found some by now. But you could have helped us to that regard.

I'm not flying to DC this year, so how do I get you guys some meat? :D Anbyody coming through Vegas in the next couple of months that could take some east with them?

I might be able to get something over to you guys. I presume that I should just ship it to Christine? hehehe

Matt, he is going to become a full body mount either on a fake rock or on some thick branches. His skull will sit next to my two bears skulls.

Sorry buddy, but this is like asking for the rack off of your first B&C whitetail buck, it just ain't happen'en. ;):D

I caught him in one of my fox sets on my trap line. He poked his head into a 220 conibear and got his neck broked. [8D] I reset the area and there are fox tracks that come into about 30 yards away, but they won't come anywhere near the sets, even with rotton caribou guts tempting them. I guess they know better than to follow into an area with wolverine scent.

There is a wolverine in the oilfields that has been seen killing caribou lately. So far he is up to 3 caribou. Workers have watched the wolverine run down the herd, and because the snow is deeper, the wolverine catches up, grabs onto their legs and tears the lower part of their legs up. When the caribou can't run any longer, the wolverine goes for their stomach and guts them. Quite the little monsters! I'd love to get some video of that!

ABM I would rather mess with a grizzly sow with cubs than one of those!!! I am wondering if you all can handle a southern boy up north again, I kept being drawn back down south when I came up last year, but I have to admit the company was excellent, even if I only saw Christene for a few minutes because she was at Daves neighbor house![8D]

I'll TRY again.... every year something comes up. One year we went to Seattle to see our son the only time he wasn't going to be busy. Another year I had to help with the Congressional Shoot and one year.... I'm not sure... I think I was banned at the time and felt like I wouldn't add anything except discord.;);)[8D][8D]:eek:

Davidmil ler you will never be bannaed from our get together simply becasue you do know jack about parties and being with friends. I am glad to hear fro,m Charlie he was there last year,hobbling in, I think he and Cardeer are the only ones with canes so far.... Lets do it....

Dave, I have given alot of thought to the matter of having the get together here. I would love to do it however, frankly just do not think I have the time this year. Between that and the fact that it would be to far for Cardeer probably, and for the rest that attend it would be between an 8 to 10 hour drive to get here. Thats just to much. So....I conceed that if you want to have it at your place again this year Ian and I will try our best to be there!

Dave, I think your place would be great. Hasn't been too much response to this this year, I would like to see more people than that has responded. Maybe people arnt seeing it here in the NE forum and I did let it go to the back pages of the offseason forum. You have a great place with all the admendies to host it and if you want all the punisment again I would say it's your baby ;). Christine, that doesn't mean your off the hook and don't have to attend :D, just leave a day earlier than you did last year so you will make it on time :D:D. At least leave the donkey at home and ride the horse this time. Just kidding of course.

Leave the donkey at home....Pleeeeaaaazzzeeee...:D Had it not been for it being 4th of July weekend, and the accidents...umm, err and my visiting Dave and Janet's neighbors ;):D Ian and I would have been there on time. This year if possible we will be there the night before!! Providing that everything is going okay and it is financially feasable which it should be. Ians pre-school alone costs me $400 a month[:@], but is well worth it now that he is able to attend after several months of being a very sick lil man. Oh....just remembered that I have to pick up the 2003 shoulder mt. of the 8pt I got last day of muzzy season here. Ooops....best start putting some $$$ back so that we will be there this year. Will post pics when I get the mount back...I have others on 35mm, just have not had the time to have them developed. And my dads widow flubbed up with the digital so no pics to post yet. Oh well......

Chris, glad to hear Ian is doing better. I haven't been a very good cyber friend to anybody lately as I've had a pretty full slate going on. Looks like I might go from a supervisor/manager of the lab I work for and become an owner. My co worker and I are working on a deal with the company to purchase the Prudhoe Bay division of the laboratory I've worked for. We recently went through a company wide merger in October, and their management practice is running this place into the ground. At least they know it, and are going to make us an offer this week on purchasing the assets of this lab and transfering the contracts.

I hope you guys have a great meet. I was looking through pictures before I headed back up north and found the ones from the breakfast in Maryland back in March of last year, and the dinner with Chris and Ian in WV. I still remember Ian flirting with the waitress... got to keep an eye on that little stud. [8D]

ABM--Christine did a great job last year on the roasts and they were excellent--just a little late. But those of us that were here enjoyed them! Sending them to her again would be an excellent idea IMO.

This year, I'll have a digital camera, so hopefully we'll have more pics.

Anyone who participates on this website, geography not withstanding, you living in PA are certainly welcome, it sounds like it might be close to the PA border again this year, lets hope. Bring your archery outfit, spud guns and a dish, sodas, whatever, you will meet a nice group of guysXXXX people who enjoy many of the same things in life...

We will really start to promote this thing in mid April and it looks like as of now June 5th will be the date but that is not locked in yet. It also looks like Dave will be hosting it again this year. This post will be allowed to float up and down in the forum but we will pin the detailed one in April to the top and in different forums to try and reach the ones that don't visit this forum. We want this one to be the biggest one yet.

Everything sounds good so far , that is one month earlier than last year, which is what we were shooting for...... Dave H has a beautiful home and it is centrally located for many of our participants , which is good......

Yep. Looks like June 5th will be the date this year. Should be great weather hopefully. Like Rick said, we'll start a new thread in mid to late April--right after I get back from my spring turkey hunting trip--so that people can sign up for it.
