Yeah I guess I can see DLuke's point, homeland security is definitely an issue that wasn't a few years ago. But it's also true that it is dependent upon where in the U.S. this would have taken place, as Jay stated if it was in the midwest or west you would of had a game warden sneaking in on you to see if you were indeed hunting predators or trying to do some night poaching.
All I got to say is..........thank god you didn't get a trigger happy rookie pull on you Jay, they would've made you famous!! Man I can still picture it happening and am laughing my arse off!! Sorry for getting a laugh at your expense Jay!!
MassHntr, that is the cultural difference between out West and the populated east, unfortunate but true, they are two worlds apart, and unfortunately for now we live in the area that sucks!

Great Phil ... laugh at my expense! We're lucky we didn't have the same thing happen when we walked in off that powerline!
For guys reading this and not believing "hunting" can be such a foreign concept to people ... many of the towns within 5 to 10 miles of where the A-Team swooped down on me have made ANY and ALL types of hunting illegal. To the point where I know people who own 20+ acres of land they can not legally harvest a deer, turkey or even a squirrel with a gun or bow .. on their OWN land! The act of HUNTING is illegal.
How does that future sound?

The swat team does seem rather excessive... but only in MA would I find it believeable. I can't say I've ever had the happen while out coyote hunting after dark... I'm going this weekend, so we'll see.

Jay, you said you parked near a sub station, is that an elctrical substation? That may have been the reason for such heavy response. Think about it for a minute, a guy getting out of a car, near midnight, with a gun. If you had a bag or backpack, that just adds to the likelyhood that it could be a terrorist planning to blow the sub station and shut down part of the towns power grid. I can tell you from experience that all parts of the critical services of any city or town are watched carefully for such activity, and when a response is called for, the doctrine of overwhelming firepower is always applied.
At least they gave you some good info on where to find coyotes.
