Snowmobile fatalities

I just heard on the local news that Maine has just had it's 8th snowmobile fatality of the season. I think at least half so far have involved kids (under 18). Child or adult, it's still sad.

That eighth one was in my town. I hear the buddy he was with was real drunk so I assume the victim was too. He tried to cross a road where the road speed limit is 50 mph and ran a stop sign. He was another of those drink and go like he!! riders. One less for the gene pool. It's sad though I think he leaves behind a wife and kids.

i just got back from quebec. everyone rides very powerful and fast sleds now. at 600 feet, on the road and still spinning with picks in the track.. our sleds are doing 80mph. when you hit the gas the ski's come off the ground.

some people just go to fast because its a he\\ of a rush. my dad was almost hit up there, if he didnt stop he would of been hit.
these guys were flying and taking the inside of the curve when the trail turned left.

i am supprised that there arnt more deaths.

We get some fatalities around this area every year it seems. Most of the time it is riders going cross country and riding on unknown ground.I guess it is like anything you do you have to use common sense sometimes.

I know several years ago they were looking under the ice for one guy who went through Chautauqua Lake and ended up finding 2 or 3 others that they didn't know about.

Bottom line is people need to slow down and use some common sense. Don't go on lakes when the ice isn't thick enough. This isn't brain surgery, you'd think people would figure it out.
