Sharpshooters in Mountain Lakes (Morris Co.)

Just saw on the tube there having a "special hunt" in Mountain Lakes. Mostly off duty police officers." poised in trees between 1/2 hour before sunrise-10 am. then again at 2 pm-1/2 hour after sunset. At pre- baited areas. The news says they're specialy trained "sharpshooters". This will go on till March. Sounds more like, an invitation only, got to know someone,I'm better than you cause I have a badge hunt. I think a few of us archers or sportsman could achieve the same goal without the towns people hearing all kinds of shooting. Any comments Bowhuntercop?

YES I SAW IT ON THE NEWS LASTNIGHT. I MAY BE A POLICE OFFICER, BUT I'M A HUNTER FIRST!!! I FEEL THAT THESE SPECIAL HUNTS THAT ONLY THE SO CALLED SPECIAL PEOPLE ONLY CAN HUNT IS A BUNCH OF "BS" THEY SHOULD ALLOW THE BOW HUNTERS A CHANCE TO HUNT. HAVE A SPECIAL CLASS LIKE THEY DID WITH THE BEAR HUNT, AND ALLOW THE NJ TAX PAYER/HUNTER TO HELP WITH THINNING THE DEER HERD DOWN. WITH THAT SAID WHAT "BS" DOWN IN PRINCTON, ALLOWING WHITE BUFFALO TO CATCH DEER WITH A NET, THEN USE A 4" BOLT TO KILL THEM, SEE I USE THE WORD KILL NOT HARVEST, BECASUE I FEEL THATS WHAT THEY ARE DOING IN PRINCTON KILLING

Same here. These people haven't figured out that us hunters would gladly pay for the special permits instead of the state paying a company to do it. Bowhuntercop what's your take on this smartgun BS?

Maybe they're afraid of liability if someone gets hurt? Must be all private land you're talking about? They did this in Allentown a few years ago, I think, at a small airport that was overrun with deer. The PETA people were really p.o'd that they were shooting the deer. And maybe that's the reason, in a high profile area, if it was open to the public, the PETA crowd would sue to stop it?

More and more towns are coming to the UBNJ to start bowhunting programs in their towns. Princeton has just started allowing bowhunters this past November.
