WHO HERE HARVESTED A NEW JERSEY BEAR?
 

HAS ANYONE HERE HARVESTED A NEW JERSEY BEAR OR PASSED ONE UP DURING THE SHOTGUN BEAR HUNT? IF SO HOW BIG WAS YOUR BEAR OR THE ONE YOU PASSED UP?

I GOT ONE ON THE LAST DAY OF THE HUNT DRESS WEIGHT 144lb.

DURING THE BOW SEASON I SAW MANY BEARS, HAD TWO DIFFERENT BEARS UNDER MY STAND IN THE 200lb. RANGE. THE ONE I HARVESTED MY FRIENDS AND I NEVER SAW DURING THE BOW SEASON, IT HAD TWO METAL EAR TAGS. AS FAR AS WE KNOW WE SAW LAST WEEK, THREE DIFFERENT SET OF TRACKS IN THE AREA WE HUNT LARGE TRACK WITH SMALL ONE NEXT TO IT (SOW AND HER CUB), AND A SET OF TRACKS ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE BEAR I GOT FEW HUNDRED YARDS AWAY. WE HAVE A BEAR ON CAM-TRACKER TAKEN IN EARLY SEPTEMBER THAT ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE BEAR I GOT, BUT NO TAGS.

I had one under my stand during Bow season. I just got down and started heading back to the truck when I heard a branch snap back near my stand, so I started a stalk back to it, thinking it was a deer. Got 40 yds away and saw it was a collared bear, kept on going to about 30 yds and realized I wasn"t going to shoot it so why was I still stalking it? I made some noise and backed out of there, it ran off about 15 yds, stopped and then ambled on. I consider it a stupid move although my arrow was knocked. It never gave any clue that it knew I was there or that I was in trouble.
