Have you ever walked away from your car? Your house? Don't try to make it sound like it was bowhuntercops fault because he left something that belonged to HIM unattended for a few days. The guy is a theif. Plain and simple.

i guess we are going to have to agree to disagree. i wouldnt call this guy a thief. the stand was in a garbage bag on the ground covered with debree on public property. its not like he carried a pair of bolt cutters into someones back yard and raided his garage. and bowhuntercops remarks about what he would have and could have done are untrue, he couldnt have done anything.

LOL! Eastwood, you didn't have to add that, it is pretty clear from your posts that you wouldn't like cops. In my experiences, people who hate cops are usually people who have been on the wrong side of the law on more than one occassion. From what you've posted, I would say maybe you've had a problem with being called a thief in the past. I guess that's where the A.K.A. comes from: usually that's what criminals use when they get caught.
Seriously though what's your problem with law enforcement?

Hey guy's, pay attention, if you hunt the same woods as A.K.A. Eastwood and are losing stands, this would be the first person to check out. He as much said so himself by saying he doesn't think taking a stand left in the woods is wrong.

And Eastwood, you are wrong about what he could have done in this case. There is no conflict of interest when witnessing a crime. Actually, a police officer is REQUIRED to act when witnessing a crime, and theft would be a crime, even if it's of your own property. I think you are confusing a theft in progress with an investigation of a theft. Now, if someone broke into bowhuntercops house, and he tried to run the investigation into who the buglar was, that could be considered a conflict of interest, and you would be correct. That is much different than witnessing a crime in progress though.

We are beginning to see more and more of this criminal act
here in Maryland. I think it is a disgrace that someone would
take advantage of a fellow hunter like this. Any person with
common sense knows that a hunter doesn't "lose" a treestand
in the woods. He's coming back for this $200 item. Regardless
of public or private land... if you find a stand in the woods and
take it home with you, it's stealing! Now if you own/lease land
and find a stand illegally placed on the property that's another
story. Bottom line, respect and ethics are slowly disappearing
within our ranks.

I sure hope you're wrong MD! I personally think that most hunters are good people. But just like the media, we all fall into the trap of assuming the worst about any group when we see an individual do something bad. We all notice the bad stuff cause it aint ordinary. And guys like AKA sure dont help!
I'd like to think most hunters who would find a treestand that was obviuosly stashed would leave it alone. But along comes the likes of AKA!
