I figured everyone would be interested in the comments by the ANTI's. This wacky lady want's the the state to Steralize the bears so that hunting isn't neccasary. First off it would be near impossible, and secondly if you steralize the bears they will all die off in one generation. How stupid is that? these people are insane.

Wish I had saved the link to a story on deer sterilization that I came across a few months back. The antis and animal-rightists have been putting out the same idiotic idea for deer hunting for years.

The essence of the story was a research study by wildlife biologists concluded that birth control methods for wild deer populations were essentially not feasible. Biologically they are unreliable, a doe would need to be injected several times for the drug to take, and it wouldn't be permanent. Logic would tell you that it wouldn't work logistically either. First, in these days of tight state budgets, how do you fund deer (or bear) pregnancy control? Second, how do you get the drug to the deer? To keep a manageable deer population in a state like Wisconsin takes a veritable army of hunters. How many deer tags are sold in that one state alone. Think that they'd take their vacation time to go into the woods to sterilize deer instead? I doubt it. You'd have to hire hundreds if not thousands of full time workers to travel the countryside popping deer with birth control darts. The budget would reach into the millions! The falloff in DNR revenue from the sale of license tags would decimate the state wildlife departments, and the economies that derive income from hunters would also be hit.

Animal sterilization is just another lame ill-thought idea by a bunch of people with mis-guided priorities, thinking up more ways to spend tax dollars. Most of these people come from big cities where they're so far removed from reality that they can't even comprehend the errors in the basic premise of their arguements. What they ought to do is lock those people in a "preserve" with some bears and/or wolves and let them understand how nature really works.

They could probably save a lot of money by putting a condom machine near the deer bedding areas.

Animal birthcontrol-HAH- i want to see all these anilmal rights activists -who dont want these critters being shot and go out and "shoot them" , like CalNewbie had stated above, whats going to happen when one of them 'truly mess up and injur one of these animals there trying so hard to protect? what then? will that be okay, compared to us putting them in our freezer? why dont they just give up?

Don't worry, guys--I'm working on a letter to my Congressmen proposing a comprehensive anti-hunter sterilization program. I call it the Anti Sterilization System/Extremist Solution, or ASSES. We'll see what my Rep has to say.

On a side note, I'm surprised more of those city folks didn't end up chest deep in snow banks, crying for "animal murderer' to drag their sorry ASSES out.
