Deer hunting the post season!
 

Well,
This is our last week to really rifle hunt and I still haven' t Knocked one down yet! Let alone see any!! I' ve seen one deer the 1st day of rifle season thats it! I still hunted all day yesterday on public land and didn' t see a thing. It reminds me of fishing a stocked trout stream. Its all played(Fished) out. I' ve seen lots of good signs like Massive rub lines,scrapes,droppings,trails. QUESTION? How do you all still hunt? I walk a little,sit for an hour then walk for another 50 to 100 yards and sit for 30 minutes,15 minutes and so on. Never even seen a tail!Where does all these deer go??? :(

Sounds like you might be moving around to much???? Try finding a good spot and just stay put, might work, might not, anything is worth a try atleast once.

In the areas where you have seen all that deer sign, is there any heavy cover nearby?
Did you find any areas with 1/2 eaten acorns? Deer feeding on acorns leave alot of broken acorns on the ground.
Find the thickest cover near these areas and watch the edge that is down wind.
The wind is very important, try to keep it in your face or atleast to your side.
Sit near these areas fom around 2:30 untill dusk.
Yesterday I watched 3 does feeding along a powerline at 3:40pm. They came out of a swampy area just too far up the powerline for me to shot. I plan to relocate my stand closer to where they were the next time I hunt there.
Thanksgiving morning I hunted in Putnam County and saw 10 hunters. At 9am I went back to the car and saw 8 does feeding on a homeowners lawn right by all the hunter' s cars.
On the way home last night (about 4:30pm)I saw at least 30 deer feeding in a field (posted)
keep trying, they' re out there.
