HEY GUYS, I JUST HAD TO TELL YOU GUYS THAT THERE HAS BEEN A 800 POUND BLACK BEAR SHOT HERE IN ELK COUNTY, I DON' T KNOW HOW TRUE BUT I HEARD FROM A VERY GOOD SOURCE THAT A 13 YEAR OLD KID SHOT IT HERE IN ELK COUNTY PA, I THINK THIS IS PROBABLY A STATE RECORD, I WILL HAVE TO LOOK ON THE PA GAME COMMISION WEBSITE, THEN I WILL LET YOUS KNOW.

I am fairly sure that our(PA) state record is a little bit over 800 lbs., but it would be neat to see an 800 pounder!

Hope it`s true, and it would be cool if it was taken by a youngster of 13!:D

That would be cool if a kid got one like that. But then he would be ruined every time he went after bear. Say he saw a 300lber he would then say its too small HEHE.

hey webejonesin2, where you live here? but about that black bear, why are you guys calling it an 800 lb bear? i went to the PA web site, nothing mentioned about it there, but all bear weights are estimated live weights. most places that i know of, we call the weight of an animal something only after everything is removed from inside, except heart, liver, and in some cases lungs. your bear wasn' t 800, maybe what, 600? still a huge bear, though. i would like to see a pic, too.

i thought the state record for pa was about 761 lbs. taken by a kid last year ???

wow ! i'm gonna have to tell my brother in law his cabin is in elk county and he bear hunt in mckean and elk county. 800 lbs thats a nice bear ! it will make a heck of a rug!

From today's NJ Star Ledger, also had a picture of the bear skin:

"It's a lot different, people who live in the city and people who live in the country," said Douglas Kristiansen, 49, who killed a state record 864-pound bear Monday. "In the city, they watch Walt Disney movies and see Bambi, but they don't see the damage and disease from overpopulated bears."

Kristiansen, who lives in Pike County, Pa., just across the Delaware River from Sussex County, said the bear he killed is the same one that had been spotted rooting through trash bins at the youth camp where he works. The bear, he declared, was a nuisance.

Now, the bruin's cape will become a rug and its meat, stacked in his back yard, will be eaten.
