Slap ' em in the ribs.
An archer sees how far away from the target he can get and still hit it. A bowhunter sees how close he can get so that he can' t miss.
I didn' t make these up myself, just ones I' ve heard that I liked.

One of my all time favorites...I' m teaching my 50+ year old advisor to turkey hunt, and that morning I give him the tip for the day...do not ever walk out into a field, a turkey will hear or see ya...
We call a turkey into the field, who starts doing the yo-yo in his strut zone...
I watch with total awe, bewilderment and amusement as my fellow " hunter" walks right into the field and the turkeys run into the wooods...
Smiling, I ask " what the hell were you doing?!"
He replies, " I wanted to see where the turkeys were..."

On my first Black Bear Hunt I naively asked my guide about the extent of the bothersome black flies. I' ll never forget his response
" Why I' ve never seen a single black fly here.........they' re all married and have very large families!"

" when i was young they used to ask me, " how many ya get?" now they ask me " which way they go?" "
" early to bed, early to rise, hunt all day, and make up lies."

" shooting for effect" ie. shooting at a deer hundreds of yards away hoping the deer willl turn and run towards you.
