This is the ten point buck I got on 10/8/24. He doesn't have the best tine length but does have decent mass and is very symmetrical. One unique feature is that both G2 tines are forked, kinda like a mule deer. Otherwise it would have been an eight point. It also has double white throat patches as you can see from an earlier trail cam photo.

Thanks! So how is your season going?

I lived and worked in the Akron area for over thirty years. When I retired and moved back to PA the guy I sold my house to covered the living room walls with some really impressive mounts, most of which came from Ohio.

Haven't even been out.

Hoping to hunt one day of the PA youth season with my oldest next Thursday. Hopefully get him a big doe.

I'll carry my inline in case a bear shows up. Nor really a bear area though.

Your location says Trumbull County so I just assumed you hunted in OH. What part of PA do you hunt in? I'm in the west central part of the state, not far from Punxsutawney. There are bears in this area but not like in Potter or Clinton counties. Our bear archery season starts tomorrow and I plan to sit in the same stand where I shot the buck which is near my orchard. I've seen bears there somewhat regularly, just never in any bear hunting season. Go figure. Still quite a few apples and pears hanging on so maybe that will attract them. They do have a bad habit of snapping the limbs off some of the trees, especially the only Granny Smith apple tree.

I live in trumbull county now and do hunt here.

Most of my deer hunting is in Indiana county near clymer.

We should get together for a squirrel hunt sometime when I'm in the area. We're not far apart.

Have you ever eaten at Luigi's in Clymer? I graduated from Purchase Line High School which is not far from Clymer and my parents lived in Commodore before I was born. Have you ever watched the Bearded Buck TV show? I'm in Clearfield County and only about five miles from those guys.

Never seen bearded buck. But I'll try to look it up on YouTube.

Been to luigis many times!

Speaking of bears, I got this trail cam photo during the night of 10/24/24 near my pond. There may be hope yet!

BTW, that's a blue heron deke in the background. I'm told that's supposed to keep the real herons away. However, it does seem to fascinate the turkeys.

I just did a rough score of my 2024 archery buck. I used the non-typical spreadsheet from B&C's website mainly because of the forked G2s. As a typical it might come close to making the PA Game Commission's record book but I don't think I'm going to bother with that this time. I assume those abnormal points off the G2s would be deductions and would probably drop it below the PGC's 115 0/8 minimum requirement for a typical rack. Anyway, I came up with a gross non-typical score of 123 3/8 and a net score of 120 5/8 which is also way below the 135 0/8 min non-typical score for the PGC book.
