Default 2022 Fawn Numbers

I was out doing a little spot lighting the other evening and was shocked by the number of fawns we saw. I can't recall ever seeing such a high percentage of fawns in the local deer herds. Just a guess but I would say that close to one quarter of the deer we saw were fawns. Our total count over about a ten square mile area was 127 deer in about an hour and a half. We did not keep track of all the individual fawns but we saw at least 30 during that one outing including one piebald. Most were twins but we also saw several sets of triplets. I'm also certain we missed seeing a ton of deer due to the height of the local corn crops. I'm in the southwest corner of Clearfield county in PA
