The area I hunt is always loaded with bears....2019 is no different then any other years

looks like some youngsters, soon to be flying solo there, as mating season be kicking in soon

I been having a nice male showing up here a lot lately, he's actually a twin, well one of two males from a liter about 8-9 yrs back now, his bigger brother got tagged a last summer,but he sure made it thru winter in pretty FAT condition LOL

but not near as many as I I normally have running about, seems winter or?? took a tole on a lot of the bears here this yr

They are PA bears, "wet paws", that sneaked across the Delaware river and illegally entered NJ from PA. :D

Lots of bear damage around Vermont this year. The numbers have risen probably as a result of less hunters and they are now going into suburban neighborhoods in search of easy food. I live in the only county in Vermont without bears. We are on a chain of fairly flat ag type islands with no suitable den sites.

I don't know about no suitable den sites, as its been known that many male bears don't den at all, will just law on top of ground, or under a blow down and be happy as is
NO need to dig into the ground in a cave or like hole to winter!

I am now up to 13 different bears here this yr
less than normal yrs for me, which I average about 17!, for the past 25+ yrs or so!

so, numbers might seem higher in some places, but doesn';t mean there higher every where
I think the fact human sprawl has got to the point, more folks are where bears are, we just see them more and think THERE MUST BE MORE OF THEM!
when actually, it might just be, were seeing them more due to humans are disturbing them more and well, easier food many times with so many feeding them and have poor bear awareness skills on how to keep trash and other things from attracting them to homes where there seen then!

LOL, Across the river we have a famous Mink the Black Bear came back from Canadian border, she is a really productive sow. I saw her deer hunting opening day on my tree stand, 15 yards away, identified her when I was about to draw my bow, then let her go. Expecting more bears...

Champlain Islands (Grand Isle County) is listed by Vt Fish and Wildlife as not having bears. I haven't heard of any ever been seen up here with such small woods and ag fields any bears would show up and be spotted. The northern edge of the county along the Quebec border has had a few moose seen passing through but no bears to my recollection.
