PA deer to open on Saturday
 

Vote is official. PA opener will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Vote was 5-3

Adjust your work schedules. I can't get off, add Thanksgiving week is already full. So it may very well be my first ever call off.

yeah my brother jim called me yesterday & told me the news. i'm really thinking hard about coming to pa for that day & back to oh for monday opener. now they just got to get sunday hunting legal . i heard that 's next anyways.

tom, it may be a while on Sunday hunting here in Pa. still a lot of land owners that are against it. what surprises me is that the game commission hasnt decided to make sunday hunting on game lands legal. that way those that want to hunt on sundays could go there and not be hampered by landowners that dont allow sunday hunting.

Yep the whiners and complainers have won a round. I doubt it is over yet because it does not kick in until 2020/21 and there is still a lot of opposition.

Ot the article I saw said effective this year. Is there anything official saying when that starts?

From what I understand, Sunday hunting needs to be approved by State Legislation before the PA Game Commission can set dates. It has something to do with being a "Blue Law" (look it up on google). Apparently there are only 2 "blue laws" remaining in PA (maybe even the USA....ha,ha) and the are Sunday hunting and car sales, who would have known.

Sunday hunting on game lands only would not be a good thing to do, I would be on a game lands in deer season if they were the only place open to deer hunting, there would be far too many people on them.

thanks mr. slim & as far a i can fiquire out it start's this year on the saturday after thanksgiving. i called the pa game commision. & they said it would start this year.

Every thIng that I'm seeing is saying this year as well.

as far as sunday hunting here in ohio it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. come on pa get with the times! it's nice to get out on your day off & sometimes your only day off. hoping ohio comes up the saturday after thanksgiving soon would let more people to hunt on the weekends. i don't see alot of gun hunters on opening day which is monday after thanksgiving.
