I saw some bear tracks in January and February in bucks county pa. I do not think they really hibernate this year.

Bears do not truly hibernate.

Bears can wake several times during their hibernation, so I've heard.

I wonder if supplemental feeding affects them. Why sleep when you can eat.

In really bad weather bears will sleep, not all in dens, a lot of bears just make a big nest on the ground with leaves and such. Wen the weather breaks they will get up and forage for food so long as weather permits. The closet to true hibernation is in bred sows who have their cubs while hibernating but they too can come out of the den.

The Champlain Islands is Grand Isle County and the only county without a bear population in Vermont. We have loads of deer and turkey but no bears.

They will have to swim some over to you.:D

Kind of odd that there are deer but no bears. All the terrain in the islands is flat ag land so it wouldn't be that good for denning. The extreme northern end of the town of Alburgh is landlocked all wooded and going into Canada where there must be bears. My town is a true island completely surrounded by water. Access via a draw bridge on the south side and a fixed bridge going into Alburgh on the north. It is fun to go around the Island by boat but since it is about 10 miles long it takes a while.
