Fish and Boat Commission officer fatally shoots man who tried to drown him: reports

The Luzerne County Coroner was called to the scene of a shooting involving a Fish and Boat Commission waterways conservation officer, the Citizens Voice is reporting.
The officer shot the suspect after being hit in the head with a rock. The suspect also tried to drown the officer, according to reports. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon in rural West Nanticote off of Route 11 near the Susquehanna River.
A state police helicopter circled the area as investigators search for another suspect. Authorities have since said there was no second person involved in the incident. According to the report, witness heard two gunshots and the officer, head bloodied from being struck with a rock, emerged from a wooded area where the altercation with the suspect occurred.
