Decoying in PA

Has anyone tried it here in PA? Thinking of giving it a shot the last week of archery up in the mountains. I know some areas where the bucks travel searching for does and was curious if it really pulls them in. Any suggestions would be great.

I tried it already. If nothing else it catches there attention and takes them eyes away from you. I had other hunters even stalk them. Really entertaining

I have one of those Flambeau roll-up types of a bedded deer.First time I ever used it a doe and her youngun came in and when they saw that she turned herself inside-out to get out of there.Never used it agian. This was just my experience and I' ve read and heard some success stories using them-just didn' t work for me.

I' ve never hunted over a decoy but we did set one up once to observe. We took a real tail and pinned it to the back of a McKenzie 3D target. Then we sprayed some doe urine on it. A few doe came in to examine but that was about it.

They work best in areas with good buck-to-doe ratios. I' d reconsider using it in the gamelands for the reason cardeer mentioned. A lot of " hunters" don' t belong in the woods. A decoy might increase your odds of running into one of those guys. I' ve used them on private property and have gotten deer to respond to them. Best if set up on the edge of a field so they can be seen from a distance.

My experiences are similar to CD' s. At the very least it distracts them though in the right situation it can attract them as well. It is quite amusing to see how other hunters react to it as well. ;)
