been getting this coyote on my trail cam a few times, been hearing in howling in the pre-dawn darkness. Yesterday around 8am he showed himself at 60 yds, I took him with my Savage 220f

getting it done in new jersey! awesome man. i've never even seen one here in MD though i hear them often. a few people i know killed some here while calling turkeys this fall.

Its amazing how an animal that a lot of people hate can make you so excited when you shoot one! Congratulations! Cant wait to call my first one in this year!

Although I do understand they need to be kept in check, as an unabashed dog lover, a dead 'yote always make me a bit sad.
However,I don't think we should hate them- they are a sign of a healthy ecosystem. That said, BOWHUNTERCOP- there are probably 5 or 6 more who didn't show! edit to add- well, it looks like I may need to cull the local 'yote population too; sitting on stand yesterday I thought, it's just too quiet-no squirrels, no turkeys and, looking around, zero deer tracks in a usually high traffic zone. So I took a little walk around and found very fresh tracks in the falling snow from at least two and probably four song dogs; one set was nearly as large as my hand! Not one deer track on that whole side of the hill the 'yotes are running. I don't mind encountering one or two but a pack is an entirely different, uh, animal. |
what did it weigh? Looks like a nice one. We got a 30 pounder in PA this year.
|
awesome! put it up right and you'll be 15 bucks ritcher, I wouldn't skin one for 50
