Question on PA hunting seasons
 

This year I"ve made it a mission to get my wife her first deer, so far, nope..... We went to PA bowhunting first week of October, no shots for her.

Considering going back for a few days with rifles, I have two options, looking for advise from PA folks.

Two seasons:

Dec 1-5, bucks only. But we have DMAP tags so can use them for doe during this period.

Dec 6-13, either sex.

Looks like nobody will be deer hunting for the last two weeks of November, so deer should be "rested" from whatever archery and muzzleloader does to them.

That gives an advantage to Dec 1-5

What I am wondering is which will have less people hunting? The area we would be is the line of Potter and Lycoming county if that helps (area 2G).

Do more people hunt bucks only or either sex, or is both going to have tons of people.

Dec.6 to 13 is when i am going.

There will be more people out during the first week.After the first day,most areas in the NC part of the state are empty which can make for some tough hunting if nobody is moving the deer.A downside to the first week is that bear season just ended and many areas in this part of the state get driven and re-driven for almost a week.That in my experience turns the deer nocturnal more than anything else.

2nd week there will be less bucks as some will be shot. And they will be educated and super spooky by the 2nd week. Opening day is probably your best shot.

I feel split on it if you have a buck patterned a little first 2 days will be best if your looking for deer to be moving first Saturday 6th will have everything moving

First Day of Rifle Season is your best chance. Good Luck and wear Lots of ORANGE!!
