RE: why hasn't all Pa gone shotgun only

I happen to agree with you. Eliminating the rifle as a legitimate deer weapon in a state with so many hunters would take away one more arguement when the anti-gunners decide it's time to restrict "sniper rifles" I think your point was well taken by a lot of folks that tend to go silent when this stuff starts. |

RE: why hasn't all Pa gone shotgun only
I am "forced" to use a shotgun in NJ but have never really considered it a handicap as 95% of my deer taken have been inside of 50 yards. I have shot deer in NYS/NJ/IL with a scoped 12ga Rem 11-87 using Federal Barnes Sabots that sighted at 100 yds.
In fact, my last 4 bucks were taken inside of 30 yds. One scored 156 B&C! I know that guys like to rifle hunt but this is only a fraction of the solution to bigger bucks. Shotgun states like IL and IA also have extremlely short firearms seasons and buck restrictions. Looking at the world from 15 feet up. |

lochorns/LedgenLS, I remember no such stance on crossbows or archery. I don't hunt archery so I have no opinion on it. Alot of people like to hunt archery, and that is their choice ,I have no problems with it.
