I happen to agree with you. Eliminating the rifle as a legitimate deer weapon in a state with so many hunters would take away one more arguement when the anti-gunners decide it's time to restrict "sniper rifles" I think your point was well taken by a lot of folks that tend to go silent when this stuff starts.

I am "forced" to use a shotgun in NJ but have never really considered it a handicap as 95% of my deer taken have been inside of 50 yards. I have shot deer in NYS/NJ/IL with a scoped 12ga Rem 11-87 using Federal Barnes Sabots that sighted at 100 yds.

In fact, my last 4 bucks were taken inside of 30 yds. One scored 156 B&C!

I know that guys like to rifle hunt but this is only a fraction of the solution to bigger bucks. Shotgun states like IL and IA also have extremlely short firearms seasons and buck restrictions.

Looking at the world from 15 feet up.

lochorns/LedgenLS, I remember no such stance on crossbows or archery. I don't hunt archery so I have no opinion on it. Alot of people like to hunt archery, and that is their choice ,I have no problems with it.
