Default Steuben County NY area deer population ?

Anyone in the Steuben County NY area ?
Wondering how the deer population looks for this year ?
I hunt near the town of Howard . Every year seems like there are less DMP,s given out . Last yer it was low first choice and no second tags at all for the 8 T area .
Looking to see the 2013 Dmp quotas , but none listed yet ?
Appreciate any input . Not cheap traveling and lodging .... Tks ...

The DMP quotas (especially for us NR hunters) are absurd. In the areas we hunt, the buck / doe ratio is skewed. We could easily shoot a dozen does during opening week. But, alas, no permits. Luckily, last year we got one assigned, so my wife popped a nice doe. Basically, for us suckers, it's buck only. BTW, I hunt down around the Erwin Mgt. area and Addison.

Have hunted Steuben county for the last 6 year Sparta the first 5 and last year Cohochton for the 1st time last. In Sparta we saw deer consistently and were able to harvest as well . In Cohocton last year all together over 3 days we saw about a dozen deer and harvested a buck and a doe. The county is pretty big so Im sure the numbers vary by area. I'm in the same boat BugsNbows being a NRH but I hunt with my cousin who is a resident and covers the permits that we can't get. Overall we have been successful.

we are in Cameron- 8T....seem to be more deer than ever. Not sure why the doe permits are "low" for the area. bumper crop of acorns and apples this year too.
