tree stands safe or not

Well I told you guys awhile back(month or two) it wouldn' t be long before someone attack tree stands. I was watching a show on hunting and at the end of the show this guy comes on and starts whinning about TS' s. He mostly attacked permanent ones but in the end he made it sound like all tree stands were just plain unsafe. The thing that upset me is that this was a show about hunting and then they turn around and tell how unsafe hunters are? One more notch for the anti' s.

I' m just wondering what everybody thinks of stands, and should we be allowed to use them? I think it is like everything that we use, check and recheck the equipment. If it is unsafe then take it down and don' t use it.

I feel the same way. We are responsible for our actions, equipment and lives. Tree stands are the best and most popular way to hunt around here. Safety should always be #1....too many guys are too lax and fall. All of a sudden treestands are bad because somebody wasn' t paying attention.[:' (]

i have been through that kind of back woods mentality while hunting central pennsylvania. they look down on you from hunting from a stand. i just feel safer i go up in the morning at down at dark. another issue i have is if your caught stealing a stand the fines should be stiffer- loss of liscence and violaters should be prosecuted under the hunter harrasment laws. I take offense to that, I live in Central Pennsylvania, in fact back woods and I love treestands. So what are you trying to say? ;)

Treestands like everything else are as safe as the individual makes them.

tree stands like any tool , should be given the utmost respect when being used , they are safe but , an unsafe person can make even a wheelchair unsafe by not properly using them , and not taking any precautions , like checking the weight capacities , proper assembly and installation , and not using a safety harness , and i' m not still talking about wheelchairs on this subject.

now this guy on the tv. first off instead of putting tree stands down and calling them unsafe and the like , he should have put more emphesis on how to properly use them and to obey the safety rules regarding them , and what can happen to one if they use them in an improper manner or unsafe way , and one has to use a little common sense too ( in they have any that is ) . demonizing them and saying they' re unsafe is definitely the wrong thing to do. that' s what the anti' s do to guns and look at the problems we have with the fight with them on guns , we don' t want to let them go after anymore of our equipment :D:D:D:D
