too late of a reply, but for next year I can tell you a bit.
I prefer to hunt turkey in the fall, which to my knowledge can only be done in washington, allegany, and garrett counties. (the three westernmost counties.) You don't see the hunting pressure you do during springs season, and you don't have to worry about walking through the woods to get to your spot and seeing a guy in camo near a tree that has no idea you're there. Also, rifles are allowed during the fall season, I like to use a scoped .22 (yes it does make it much easier, but this form of turkey hunting is still much more challenging in my opinion then deer hunting.) Greenridge has a lot of turkeys, more than anywhere else in allegany, except for dans mountain wma. No one seems to mention it when it comes to turkey hunting. It's very rugged, and its very easy to get to a spot if you're fit enough and never seen anyone else, even during firearms deer season. While I have never hunted public land in garrett county, I have hiked through it and it does in my opinion have the most turkeys of anywhere in the state. You can take one turkey during the fall of either sex, if you do this you can take one in the spring, if it is a gobbler. If you don't hunt the fall season, you can take two gobblers in the spring.
