Its not too bad. It all depends where you go. I shot one last day of deer season this past hunting season. Didnt see jack over a bait but nail one while trying to knock down a Nomad buck lol. The bears here average 150-200 lbs though. An occasional monster but for the most part the 150 range. I think PA has some bruisers in the 600lb range. Atleast I think its PA.

Ya,
PA has some big ones. Every year I hear of a big one being taken somewhere in the state. I've been hunting in PA 10 years now. I've seen 7 bear during that time, and never saw one while I was bear hunting. Only while deer or small game hunting. Not allowed to bait in PA or use dogs. We can drive them though.

Maine also has some bruins although I agree with the average being around the 200lb mark. 2 years ago just west of Grandlake Stream, Me. 1 was shot around 612 lbs. But, then again that would be a rare one. It ended up getting shot by dog hunting. It did keep coming into bait prior to that but only at night.. The Passamaquoddy Indians have a guided spring hunt here as well..

How big is this black bear? He has been messing with my trailcam darn it. I absolutely hate bears around my trailcams. I am thinking this bear is hunting for newborn fawns right now. I also think it will make it past this falls hunting season as well. No body baits for bears in this area.
