The Delmarva Fox Squirrel is protected and there has never been a hunting season for them. They just came off the ES List in 2015. People here are discussing Eastern Fox Squirrel, which are abundant, and mainly
found in Western Maryland. They're much larger than Eastern Grey Squirrels, and much more challenging to hunt. They tend to live atop steep ridges, in mature hardwood forests (Oak and Hickory).
