NYers: Apple Tree Question

Anyone seen some kind of Apple tree blight this summer? My father and I went out to set some trail cams and we noticed about half the trees didn't have apples on them. We checked a few out and the leaves had yellow/brown spots on them....The ones that had apples were fine...Anyone else seeing this?

I did notice that not all trees have apples on them, but did not inspect too closely.

The wet spring in the northeast probably brought some fungus problems.

Many of my wild trees were initiallly loaded with buds but didnt produce. This happens every few years to what I believe are the same trees. I think also it is probably a seasonal fungus of some sort. I keep intending to spray some of the trees with an antifungal to see if that has an effect.

I do believe it is some sort of disease. Been doing some research and haven't gotten exactly what it is, but I'm close....

Over by me, every apple tree I see looks alright. :confused2:

If it is indeed a fungal or bacterial pathogen, it's probably too late for any kind of spray to do much good. Most of those products do better as preventative applications rather than curative. Save your $. Besides, the leaves will soon be dropping.
