Long Island hunting DEC spots? Grumman?

I normally hunt on state land that does not require a DEC permit. I am thinking about trying out one of these numbered DEC spots? Can anyone recommend which spots are good. I hear a lot about Otis Pike? Also does anyone know if there is a spot near the Old Grumman?

Otis Pike, is the old Navy property which was the Grumman buffer zone.

If you are bow hunting, I recommend getting into the RCA/Rocky Point co-op area. There is more deer per ac then you will see over at any of the Otis Pike hunting spots. Just remember hunting on weekend require a reservation on both sides, Rocky Point and Otis Pike.

If you get the seasonal permit, you can hunt the Saranoff Preserve/RCA, Hither Hills and the Light House State land. Some of those parking areas are for 2 cars.

Give Shelter Island a try.A friend of mine took a really nice 9pt there some years back.Lots of posted signs but there's tons of deer and some have serious racks.
