Response from Sen. Vitale (NJ) S2603

Here is what I got in the email from Sen Vitale in regards to Bill S2603.

Thank you for contacting me regarding Senate Bill 2603, which would expand
and revise the authority of the Fish and Game Council. I appreciate hearing
your views on this important issue.

I introduced this legislation in an effort to address concerns that the Fish
and Game Council was not truly representative of all those who are impacted
by their regulations. My intention was to provide a more fair and balanced
Council by adding members and shifting some control of the Council to the
Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection. However, as you
may be aware, I have recently withdrawn S-2603. At this time I believe the
best course of action would be to meet directly with representatives from
the Fish and Game Council to determine if these concerns can be remedied
without legislation.

Please know that I am a supporter of a balanced approach to wildlife
management that recognizes the rights of all of those involved.

Again, thank you for contacting my office regarding this matter. I will keep
your letter on file for future reference. If you should have any questions
regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact my office in the
future.

With best wishes,

Is this guy for real? He says that he is really pro sportsmen but he backs a bill to gut Fish and Game. Any thoughts on this guy?

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. I think he' s just trying to make himself look good to the hunters/outdoorsman. I don' t see him being much of a sportsmen. If he was, he wouldn' t have even considered the darn bill in the first place....unless he' s scared of the Antis.

His letter didn' t say he backs sportsmen:

" all those who are impacted" and " all those involved" can be directly translated as non-hunters and anti-hunters, as well as hunters. He flatly told you that he is trying to " shift control" into the hands of people who want hunting to go away, " to provide a more fair and balanced Council" .

Just because he pulled the bill doesn' t mean he has changed his mind.
