S-n-o-w!!!!!!

Big one coming! More the further south, but I'm in an 8-12" area...parts of south could get over 2 feet! This will give me a good chance to do some scouting for late season..after the deer get up from bedding up in the storm, it should be easy to find their sign. Hopefully pin down an old buck' s "rehab" core area...where they hole up after rut to regain strength and fat through winter. That's my strategy anyway...and build some kick butt snowmen with the wife and kiddos, get snowed in, and have some good family time to make up for all the time I spent hunting this year!

Camosteel 12-18-2009 10:17 AM

We are from the same area I beleave Steel. Unfortunately I'll be out plowing snow all day instead of playing with the boys. Money from the sky I like to call it...hard to turn down the extra cash this time of year.

bowfly 12-18-2009 12:40 PM

no doubt boys, this could go a long way in finding the new turf for dislocated bucks...i am excited, 6-8 here they are calling for :D

Saxman1819 12-18-2009 02:34 PM

Yeah I'm in the 10-15 range. Too much snow and too windy for me to be out there. I'll probably take off on Monday and go out.

BTBowhunter 12-18-2009 02:42 PM

Them 2B does are in trouble tomorrow!! :barmy::barmy::barmy:

Cornelius08 12-18-2009 03:16 PM

LIke to get out and call some yodel-dogs over snow. Hopefully we get some down here. Lotsa times all you mountain and northern guys get it, and we stay bare.

Sounds like we should get some, but I doubt anywhere near the totals you guys are predicted. 8" and more is a once a decade occurrence here, probably less.

BTBowhunter 12-18-2009 04:08 PM

Actually this ones coming from the south But you may be too far west. Somerset, Fayette and Westmoreland look like they're gonna get a decent amount

Cornelius08 12-18-2009 04:48 PM

Havent heard the weather for a couple days actually, just caught the tail end of it on the radio earlier. Have to watch it tonight.

The areas you mention usually take the brunt of it. Thats the way it usually is, most snow East of here, with much less in Greene & Western Fayette. Eastern half of Fayette in the mountains is usually the east/west dividing line between the heavy and the light snows down here. 119 the dividing line between wmus 2a and 2c is pretty close to the foot of the mountain. East of 119 they get pounded.

I'm thinking if my snowblower doesn't start tommorrow BT should swing over and help me shovel.
It wouldn't be too long of a drive BT I'm only in Lancaster county.:D

blkpowder 12-18-2009 05:10 PM

I'm already getting it at my place. It's on the lite side right now. They are calling 4 to 6 in my area.

Sounds OK to me as long as you got 911 on your speed dial :s5:

I guess it's time to saddle the plow up to the 4 wheeler:( It's always depressing to see any piece of hunting equipment reduced to being used for household chores. Next thing ya know, that wet snow'll wash all that decorative deer blood off'n the thing!

I think you're right. It'll also be perfect for my buddy and I to have a crack at our tried and true one man drive hotspots.

rem700man 12-19-2009 12:13 AM

it's 4:10 am here in marshall va. and we already have 9",,,,totals are to be in the 15"-25" range,,,,I know that dont sound like much to you Pa. guys but this area will be crippled for a week,,if not longer. Im hopin that the deer might try to get a quick bite to eat this morning in one of the food plots and i can bloody up some of this pretty white stuff! Good luck to you guys!

We where supposed to only get 1-2 inches last night. We already got 6 inches and it's still coming down. I'll take that 15 -25 Rem!
Good luck and be careful out their today.

Let snow-let it snow-let it snow!!!:)

WV Gino 12-19-2009 03:46 AM

At 7:30AM EST Sat. we have 5" on the deck here in Mon County WV.
I am at the same elevation as Masontown, WV in Preston County so I guess Morgantown has a little less snow than we do.

It's going to snow all day, we will get at least a foot. No biggie, it's when we get 3 feet it becomes a problem.

Saxman1819 12-19-2009 05:29 AM

I expect updates from those of you going out today.

Sniggle 12-19-2009 06:52 AM

I tried to go out this morning....well, I actually got out of bed at 6:00 AM and looked out the window and we already had 5 inches on the ground (jefferson County, WV) and it was coming down heavy....so I went back to bed.

I plan to head out this afternoon as soon as it starts to lighten up...last day of muzzleloader season and I need to unload my smoke pole.

BTBowhunter 12-19-2009 07:06 AM

Been their, done that! All that white tends to make them look bigger and closer than they are.

BTBowhunter 12-19-2009 07:42 AM

zackly what happened! Shot under her. Snow, low light, happened in a hurry, oh I got lots of excuses.... just wish there was one that didnt feel like I'm just making excuses:s1:

Maverick 1 12-19-2009 10:55 AM

You mean that you missed???? Sheesssh.... I never thought that was possible.

By the way. How come you're back home already? Usually when I go out, I make a day of it. Maybe if you weren't so busy hitting the forum all the time, you might reconnect with one of those does.

Thanks but it had to happen sooner or later:s2:.

No worries about connecting again. Plenty of does still out there if you know where to hunt. Plenty of bucks too.:s4: Ya just gotta know where to look.

jaybez101099 12-19-2009 12:38 PM

East Baltimore County MD right now in my back yard average of 16".....didn't get out today for late MZload season.

BigBuck95 12-19-2009 01:51 PM

Pahick 12-19-2009 02:21 PM

ManySpurs 12-20-2009 03:54 PM

Somethin tells me you'll get your share before it's all over:s5:

Glad to see you back!:poke:

Screamin Steel 12-21-2009 01:45 AM

Ended up with probably 16 honest inches, but so m,any deeper drifts it was just really hard to tell for sure. Got the 4 wheel drive unlimbered for a little, but got very ltittle done outside of sleepingin, watching movies, and playing in the snow with the kids.(Great wkd!) By Sunday morning they had my road opened up, so got in a little church and dinner with the in-laws. Watched my Steelers finally pull off a win in spectacular fashion......What a weekend!

marshall9779 12-21-2009 06:35 AM

I didn't measure, but on the news the official measurement in Gaithersburg, MD was 22". It was too much for me to be doing any hunting on Sat.

PAThwacker 12-21-2009 07:07 AM

4"s in NEPA, pretty much a nonevent, and easy to shovel. Commuted to North Jersey today, and they got a boatload. You couldn't ask for a better Christmas week.
