seeing the same thing in my 2 hunting areas. one in the northern zone and one in the southern. they're 300 miles apart. I've put a lot of time in the woods this year and am def. seeing a decrease in deer population. As is everyone else I know. I think the past 2 winters combined by an increase in coyote population is really hurting the deer. If you don't trap or call coyotes YOU SHOULD START!!!!!!!!!

This has been my worst season ever.Same goes for my buds.Very few sightings of doe's and buck sightings are pathetic. My only hope is the late season and finding the time for it which is not looking good.

Even snow on the ground didn't get them moving that much. Group saw 4 sunday am, and that was it. It's been a dismal hunting season, not just for nyers either!!

Saw 10 deer from my stand yesterday in rockland co., including a nice heavy 8 just out of bow range.

Is this a bow only area? Why a bow since the gun season is still on?

technically rockland is SG/ML according to the DEC but Im pretty sure that it is unlawful to discharge a firearm in rockland co. although its pretty common, especially people duck hunting off the hudson rvr. the spot im in is not too big and close to residential areas, bowhunting just seems more appropriate, and my shots are usually under 30 yds anyways since its moslty thick brush. Theres also just something cool about bowhunting w/ snow on the ground.
