09 PA Archery Buck
I shot this buck Saturday morning, just before 8am. He came to my grunt call, looking for some action. He gave me a perfect 20 yard broadside shot. I was concerned when he exited up hill. I had a good blood trail and a very bloody arrow, but thought I smelled a hint of stomach on it. I decided to back out and come back later. I resumed the trail after lunch and found him about 100 yards later dead in his bed. This is my first archery buck, I've taken plenty of doe before but never connected with a buck. It's bittersweet, I'm pumped to have completed a goal but disappointed I won't have a buck tag for gun season. I guess I'll be carrying a camera :s1:.

Nice buck, nice shot, congrats.

Nice buck, and by the looks of that wound, you hit him well...though always better to err on side of caution, you did the right thing by backing out. Congrats on your first bow kill!
|
Congrats on your buck and a smart move with backing out. Come rifle season it will feel good to have the pressure off!

Congrats, Where are u located in PA?
|
Congrats on the buck. Very nice!
I got a way for you to get so much more out of the gun season. You won't have much time though. Find a kid to take. Mentor a youth. Surely you have a small niece, nephew, or other kid that would want to go. You will have so much more of a thrill taking a kid. Get him/her to the range practicing now. |
Nice buck. Way to go!
