What do you think this fat sucker weighs? 3B buck.

livbucks 10-26-2009 04:33 AM

I don't know, but he is far more than his rack. Is he legal in your WMU? I am not familiar with it (3b), and don't feel like checking.

3B is a three point side. We're northeast and north central. Sullivan, Bradford, etc.....

He would be off limits in the western part of the state in the 4 point WMUs. He's obviously quite mature but just doesn't have the genetics for a lot of points. You should have seen him two years ago. Really wide. Looked like a mule deer.

He is past his prime then. An absolute trophy. Once in a lifetime.

He would definitely be a nice trophy. Not because he scored high, but because he survived many hunting seasons in PA and is a wise old buck.

I also like a big-bodied buck. They can be pretty impressive on the wall, too. ;)

that is a fat deer... 200ish? kill him!

BarnesX.308 10-26-2009 08:55 AM

I shot one last year that weighed 230lbs live. 182lbs dressed. This one looks fatter. But, then again, the other deer might have had a bigger frame. Hard to tell without a side to side comparison.

That sag in his belly/ back and thick neck are telling me he is atleast 4.5......Should have had nicer rack....I'd take him...he very well might be an ol timer going downhill. A rare trophy in PA for sure.

Unless we have multiple versions of this buck running around, he's been around for a while. In 2006, I would say he was in his prime. A good 23-24" wide, big forks and tall brow tines. He looked like a mule deer back then. I would say he was at least 3.5 then. So he could be 6.5 yo.

thank god for the four wheeler which would drag him out

a friend of mine i hunt with shot a fat doe once and he was by himself, trying to lift her alone to the fourwheeler, he said when he saw me still hunting the creek "it was like john wayne was coming off the horizon, ready to help"
