Do you support Sunday hunting in PA?

Do you support Sunday hunting in PA?

Cornelius08 09-20-2009 05:18 PM

I support Sunday hunting in general. I support it in other states that have sunday hunting and I have hunted already legal game here on Sunday. I dont currently support Sunday hunting because of the deer issue. I do not trust pgc with yet one more tool to reduce the herd even further. Theyve proven they cannot be trusted and to add more fuel to the antideer fire, to me, isnt a good idea.

I understand those who support it, as you can never have too much time in the woods, many have limited time to hunt, and because if this situation were rectified and the game commission had a "makeover" and the board were hunter friendly and not "antideer" I would support Sunday hunting 100%.

But right now, had to regretably vote no.

I voted YES! I would love to hunt Ducks on Sunday!

I voted yes. I am from NY. I have considered moving to PA and withdrew that thought when I discovered that policy.

4evrhtn 09-21-2009 11:22 AM

I voted yes and for many of the reason Cornelius hit upon. I love hunting and always want to be able to hunt more. I think the PAGC should have changed this law if they had wanted to increase opportunity to hunters instead of including a new weapon.

boilermaker85 09-21-2009 11:27 AM

Sunday should be reserved for xbows!

This is a legislative issue, not a PGC issue. The PGC doesn't make or change laws.

Then if all everyone is saying about the Xbow issue is true, then it should be a no brainer......Make that a contri=olled hunting day like BTB wants for Xbow only. I like it.

If you're saying make Sunday the ONLY day for crossbows, I'm on board with that!:cool2: Let the real bowhunters have the other six days LOL:sign0004:

Let the real bowhunters have the other six days LOL
The real bowhunters already have the other six days, just as they had them for many years. If crossbow hunters are as inept as many bowhunters would like to portray them, they will have little impact on the real bow hunters.

Sunday hunting is already legal in PA. Crows, woodchucks, varmint critters....have to read the book again...but the principle exists already. All we would be doing is expanding the legal opportunities. So anyone that argues against it should realize we've already had it for years. What's the point in not including all game seasons?

Lanse couche couche 09-22-2009 04:31 AM

"Real bow hunters?" So, am i to understand that only traditional wood longbows are legal in PA?:s14:

boilermaker85 09-22-2009 04:32 AM

cross bow hunting is gonna be on sunday Lanse. wanna go pile em up?

Lanse couche couche 09-22-2009 04:34 AM

Gonna have to shoot groundhogs since they aint no deer left:s10:

boilermaker85 09-22-2009 04:36 AM

theres more deer than hillbillys! if ya like spikes! or trophy forks!

livbucks 09-22-2009 05:52 AM

I was, but no longer....not since crossguns are allowed.

boilermaker85 09-22-2009 05:54 AM

afraid of competition?

Lanse couche couche 09-22-2009 10:39 AM

I would be more worried about the competition from the compound guns...

For me the only thing making me hesitant is a corrupt environmentalist extremist antigame commission and a failed deer program.

Ya we stack em up! I just learned from b.c that a xbow will shoot 100 yrds and still go through the thickest of bone! Im pumped up now! He said he tried it and its so easy a retard can do it!

Ummm.....NO.
Adding a Sunday would increase the harvest and pressure on deer exponentially as it is. We all know that Sunday hunting would not add up to simply one more day per week of hunting. The pressure of Sunday hunting would add about 30% more human intrusion into the woods. (IMO)
With the decline of hunter numbers I felt that the deer could handle it. That was, until they legalized crossguns statewide. When you put the influx of new crossgun hunters in with the increased pressure of Sunday hunting, I feel it will prove to become too burdensome to the herd and hunting overall.
I am really disappointed with our game managers at this point. It seems they have gone from erring on the side of caution to arrogantly throwing caution to the wind.
The PA Game Commission is simply keeping up with the Jones' (other states) in that they want money, money, MONEY, as of late. I would favor a nice sized general license price increase versus this.
We are going to eventually pay for all this (crossguns AND Sunday hunting) in the form of reduced season length, so what are we really gaining?

Screamin Steel 09-23-2009 07:29 AM

....at this point I would be happy to see PA following other states lead for a change, OTHER THAN TRYING TO BE ASININE DEER MANAGEMENT PIONEERS! Lets shoot for the lowest deer densities in the nation and turn PA into a bird sanctuary with green sustainable forests where the hippy vegan tree huggers can play.

boilermaker85 09-23-2009 08:00 AM

i wouldnt come to pa to hunt. but i may come to see the bird sanctuary!

boilermaker85 09-23-2009 08:01 AM

its 30 to 8? majority rules! see ya on sunday

How about buck hunting only on Sunday? No worries about the doe on Sunday.

That is an idea, actually!
Hmmm.

No worries of overhunting the herd there. You get your one buck a year and you'd be done anyway. Impact would actually be negligible in that scenario.

I was all for Sunday hunting.... until the crossgun fiasco.

boilermaker85 09-23-2009 09:45 AM

i knew you guys would get on board! sundays buck/crossbow only! perfect!

sproulman 09-24-2009 07:03 PM

i guess i am one of 8.....i dont want to see it.i feel deer need day of rest after being chased all week.its nice to not see trucks bouncing down road and gun shots while at camp.it also is nice day to go shopping, watch tv or sit at bar or camp with friends.i think that would disappear if sunday hunting would be allowed.

i guess i just like way things are now.i like talking to hunters on sunday at elks club, then out to camps and talk some more.if sunday hunting was allowed ,i would not see those friends as they would be hunting.2 more day just in gunseason ,i feel would put a hurt in deer numbers too.

guys, we just dont need more pressure on deer that are left.i understand having time to hunt is hard for people who cant get off during week.just my view on things...........

if it was ONE DEER AND YOUR DONE,i would be willing to change my opinion on sunday hunting,no extra tags or dmap tags that are not being used in dmap areas but on PRIVATELAND.got off topic again but these dmap tags are real failure and honest hunters like us that go by rules are not seeing what is happening.
