Hoping to retrieve my trail cam this week. Betting the battery is dead by now...damn Moultrie can't get more than 2 weeks out of a battery ever. I have some limbs to trim around my newest stand site, and mark two trails in with new night owls, so my buddy doesn't radio me at 5:30 am telling me he is lost and can't find his tree again this year! Been shooting daily and pleased with my accuracy with the new bow. Haven't had a whole lot of time for scouting other than putting up that new stand. Two areas I need to hit, but waiting till closer to season to check the current food sources. Between work, boy scouts, family obligations, and prepping for upcoming steelhead season, its hard to make time. I'm starting to "feel the squeeze!"

He is a nice one, he also spends most of his time on pulic land. 20 feet behind that camera is state land open to hunting, thousands of acres of public land behind that camera.

I'm not broadcasting my hard earned secret to the whole world but will share with those who ask via PM

Has anyone tried planting hostas as a food plot? They are shade tolerant , spread readily and the deer love them especially in the fall.
I plan on spreading some seeds along some of my trails this fall to see if they will take hold in various areas.

PSSSTTT..... two of those three I posted are just a little more than a bowshot from public land borders.

The other is at least 1/4 mile from the public ground.

They certainly do eat hostas. Wife's always griping about how they eat hers.

Congrats BB! You were spot on this time.

Hostas were exactly what I was talking about.

I swiped the by products from the wifes thinning em out in her flower gardens and put out about 40 clumps of em this summer and the deer positively are mauling them. I used the white/green variety but they seem to love em all.

Perennial, love shade, almost impossible to kill, these things are great!

Thanks, but I am a bit surprised you gave up your secret so easily.

Did you plant them under a completely closed canopy or did you plant them in an area where they get some sunlight? The plot I have seems to die out when it is under full shade.

Why is this? You don't think AR has any thing to do with this.

Doubtful Pats. Thats why they are always "a bowshot from public land"...."a hop skip and jump away from public land"...."across the road from public land" ...."in front of the camera was public land"....or miles from public land but rarely ON public land! lol.

Lets not sugar coat it. Lets just call it what it is. OFF LIMITS.
