RE: Food Plots for the Northeast
 

I planted oats and buckwheat last spring and turnips in late summer -- pretty much got left alone.

This year, I planted red clover and white clover and have 3 - 4 bucks in it every evening and sometimes in the morning too. It may be a little late for that THIS year, but you can still try buckwheat. It's easy to grow and the say that June 21st is "buckwheat plantin' day" in Western Md which has weather comparable to yours. This would be the ideal time for that. They didn't hit mine much during the season last year, but I think because it's not grown around here much and they were timid about trying it. I planted itagain this year since it's easy to grow, good for conditioning the soil, fairly cheap and I'll be the only guy with it when they finally find out it's something they like! :D

In a month or so, you can put in turnips. They won't get hit until after a good frost or two, but they're good for the actual season and you'll have time to get ready . . . they're cheap too.;)
