Number of road kills

You guys notice the increase in road killed deer on the PA highways lately? I drive I-81 alot in my job and the deaddeer on the roadside are on the increase. I think it may be due to the doe chasing away last year's young so they can drop their fawns and they are a bit confused. Almost all the deer seen appear to be relatively small.

I've noticed the same thing traveling on 80 and 84 the past few weekends. Lots of roadkill, could that be an indicator that the herd is on the rebound.

Last years fawns are lost without Momma and Momma is looking for a place to drop her new fawns.

I;m thinking the farmers are plowing and planting the fields. Lots of noise and movement and smells they are not used to dealing with??

a lot of the STONE trucks working for penn-dot are traveling in groups of 3 to 5 very early in morningreal close to each other so they can keep their speed up.they get paid by load.when they start running, deer start dying.the deer misses first truck, runs back to side of road and trys to run accross not seeing 2nd or 3rd truck.they are confused.

some truckers just dont like sproul on that comment.its what i see after driving heavy equip trucks for longtime,i seen it happen many, many times.
