Dear Archers Alert Member, (or UBP Focus Group Member)[/b] [/b] [/b] Representative Edward Staback has introduced House Bill 97 that provides for increased fines and penalties for anyone convicted of poaching game or wildlife. There is currently some opposition to this bill on the grounds that the those fines and penalties are excessive; and that the average 900 to 1000 known[/i] incidents of poaching that occur in Pennsylvania each year are acceptable numbers.[/b] [/b] I don’t know about you, but in my view the act of poaching is nothing less than plain theft and licensed hunters who abide by the game and wildlife laws are the victims. In addition the taking of any wildlife by illegal means is a serious breach of the moral and ethical code of the hunter.[/b] [/b] I am respectfully asking you to write, email, or call Representative Staback and tell him that you are a concerned sportsman who supports the increased fines and penalties for poachers as proposed by House Bill 97. Thanks for the info! IMO, if a poacher gets caught on his or her second offense,it should be mandatory jail time and triple the fine. You can fine them all you want, you can't get blood from a stone! BUT, if you jail them that ups the ante and might make people think twice ablout poaching! Increase those fines but jail is the answer!

Increase those fines but jail is the answer! The law already provides for judges to issue an arrest warrant when someone fails to pay a fine now. The larger the amount owed, the more a local magistrate is likely to issue that warrant. |

ok fine great law,,,should have been the norm since game laws have came into play,,,,my question to you is this,,,,is this a back door attempt to show that x-bow users are all poachers??????????? seems funny to me that this law is all the sudden necessary

maybe i shoulda worded that differently,,,like,,,is this a back door attempt at saying you x-bow users that intend to use the weapon illegally are at greater risk?,,,,i hate new bills that get proposed when a lesser issue is at stake or being contimplated

guys,,,look at where the alert came from,,,it came from the pres. of ubp,,,,what is the ubp all wound up about at this current time?????????????,,,,the inclusion of the crossbow!!!!! log onto the united bowhunters of pennsylvania website and read the main heading in the center of the page
