RE: Some PGC are not idiots
To doggie and btbuthunter now, there are some places where deer might not be on public land? Spin spin spin they do. You must not be far enough back in the woods or you are not hunting hard enough on public land. LMFAO
These are the ones who have their private lots and speak for the PGC approval. Selfish little batches those are. |

RE: Some PGC are not idiots
ORIGINAL: DougE Interesting.I wonder if Boop realizes that Pa is over 80% private property. Is he saying that the majority of hunters are concentrated on the 20% of public land? I'd guess that's pretty close Doug.I know around here the SGL's are packed full of orange in rifle season.I refuse to hunt there.Even in Clearfield the SGL's get pretty packed.Last year when my son got his buck in archery he drove past SGL 93 and said the parking lots were full.Perry county also gets hammered on state lands. |
RE: Some PGC are not idiots
ORIGINAL: BTBowhunter ORIGINAL: DougE I would say the situation would be much more grim on the public land near metropolitan areas.I would imagine those areas get hammered, regardless of how many tags are handed out though. You guys gotta remember too BT there's big chuncks of private land where no hunting is permitted. Also pivately owned land is included in the populated areas where housing developements exist and no hunting is permitted. After everything is factored in I do believe the majority of hunters use public land. |
RE: Some PGC are not idiots
I agree 100% Germain where there is public land.
What I was referring to in 2B is almost 100% private. The deer move away (onto land largely inaccessable to hunters) from pressure and go largely nocturnal. I think most guys from elsewhere cant begin to imagine the pressure that starts here after the statewide firearm season is over on the unposted land there is. We have a few localized spots where they hold that we can hunt and we do well with small drives in late season. Getting and keeping access, however, takes some creative year round effort. |
RE: Some PGC are not idiots
Have no reason to doubt ya BT.:D
I was referring to the state overall.I can believe the majority uses public land. But there's so many factors that come into play. |
