I' ve done it, you can get the hide tanned, looks pretty neat, or get a head mount, which looks cool, but seems a little silly to see a snarling fox on the wall, at least to those familiar with foxes, or even get a full body mount. Back before everyone and their brother started putting fox urine on their boots, and the deer didn' t shy away from it, they' d follow us into our stands all the time.
Get a nice red late in the season, you' ll have a beautiful hide to get tanned.
I mounted one when I was thinking about getting into taxidermy, came out OK.
With nobody trapping them, I' d recommend shooting every one you can, they do a number on the quail and such, which aren' t in great shape to begin with

RE: Shooting a fox while Deer Hunting

I saw quite a few last year, had one come within ten feet as I was sitting on a rock. I made some stretchers today.Guess next season I' ll try my hand at skinning and selling the pelts. I get Fur-Fish-Game mag and the price of Prime Fox Pelts last year was 30-35 dollars,A few of those could pay for all the licenses ,stamps and permits I buy. As my wife and children also hunt and fish.
