What' s the latest on the Chinese Snakehead Fish?
 

I haven' t heard anything on this in quite a while. Does anyone have any information on the current status of the problem?

I live on the Potomic river, just across from Maryland. even tho the state of Maryland seems to think they have the problem in hand, we will know more about it come late spring and summer when the fishing really kicks in.

I live a bit North of the pond, and the last word I got was that the chemical they used was to kill everything. I believe the no treaspassing signs are still up. I thinkd the DNR made a deal with the property owner the restock to pond after the eco. system had stabilized. Regardless I' m sure they will have something in the local bi-weekly paper when they do.

I live 5 minutes away from there (never seen it though), and heard they killed everything in there. I think as real as the situation was, it was made into a monster that could eat kids or something! The hype spiraled the story out of control relative to the actual situation.

I did hear that a rowboat full of fishermen was swallowed whole by one but have been waiting for confirmation. :D

I had read in one of the many reports that came out last year when the story became national news that some of these things had been found in Maine waters too. In fact I think there was a list of several states where they had been found. Unfortunately I have seen nothing since pertaining to their presence in Maine. Even the MDIF&W site makes no reference to them that I have found.
