More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
I no it may not sound like much but gosh darn .
Our NY. hunting license fee,s are going up . $ 10.00 for alll regular big game , bow , muzzleloader etc. and $ 20.00 more for the super sportsman . Not sure what there actualy using the money for but I dont see anything done towards conservation in my area ..???? I no its a recession move , but I believe there robbing Peter to pay Paul ... |
RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
Count your blessings I hunt Connecticut as a NR the current cost for a NR archery only license is $100.00. There is a proposed increase that will increase the NR license to $200.00. Connecticut has good hunting and a long seasonbut it is not Iowa. :)

RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
Well thats great. In a family of 4 being myself, wife, and 2 boys old enough to hunt big game now it'll cost my family $360 this fall. I think we should all thank Gov. Patterson for doing a fine job here in NYS with all his crazy tax increases, wanting to raise college tuitions, less funding for hospitals, and trying to do away with the Star Program. All this moron is going to do it push more businesses and people out of this state. [:@]

RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
It makes me sick that sportsman have to pay for all the liberal's spending spree's.I wouldn't mind so much if the money actually went to conservation but none of it does.On a brighter note Patterson will probably not get elected when that time comes but who ever does will likely screw us just the same as there's far to many liberal voters and conservatives stand little chance.I always remain hopeful though and always vote in any election I can.

RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
so the super sportsman is going to cost 90 bucks now... that really sucks $90 dollars, I bow hunt about twenty day's, gun hunt about 15 days, Turkey 15 day's in the spring maybe 5 in the fall. Fishing 30-40 days a year (That will increase this year.) Small game maybe 5-7 times a year. In comparison, my son's lacrosse heads for his lacrosse sticks cost $90, he went through six in his senior year. Take the family out to dinner with tip about 80 bucks. My daughter basketbal shoes were about $60. What's it cost to go to the movies, as many times as I use my sportsmen's license. What's a lease cost? What's your bow cost? If you're a golfer what's that cost a year? $90 dollars for the time I spend in the woods, to be able to go Salmon and Walleye fishing, and bond with my kids, priceless. Abarofsoap, You're young, right? Get a part time job andbuy a lifetime license.Skip the Cmere deer this year it's illegal anyway, you'll have enough money fora license.[8D] |
RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
I look at some of the signatures on this site listing all the money you spend on your equipment and then complain about $90 dollars to use it?
I'll save over $90 by picking my ownnight walkers and making my own jigs this year, it cost me about $90 to respool my Salmon reels. Two days troling cost me more then $90 dollars. Break it down, Archery License, Gun license, Fishing License, Turkey stamps, Small game license, divide by your days afield, what's it cost? With what I posted I'm using my license about 80 times a year for $90. My son uses his proably 120 times for $90. (disclaimer this not aimed at anyone just an observation) It's funny what people complain about paying for and then, blow money on things, and never think twice about it. Cigs, Chew, Beer, lottery tickets, strippers, etc, etc. |
RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
Charlie it's not the amount but the fact that it's being stolen from it's intended purpose.

RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
that is a lot of money for our short season. I wouldn't mind so much if they would give us a longer season or add a later season in January like Ohio. I would even be happy with a crossbow season in January.

RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
My point exactly ,
If the money was used for its proper intent , it would be fine . I,d also like to see a week long muzzle loader or bow season deer of either sex at the end of the firearm season . I ,m sure alot of hunters hold out for a buck and sometimes get nothing . So it would give them a chance to put some venason in the freezer . |
RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
Personally, IMHO, we get a pretty good bang for the buck here. Considering I can get 5 deer, 2 buck, 60 days of big game hunting, two turkey, a bear, trout, salmon, all other fish and small game, my super sportsman is cheap.
My only beef is the dismall job the state does on stocking approved trout streams: not nearly as good as the EXCELLENT job Pa. does. |
RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
Crokit...maybe you get out more than the rest of us. I have a family and it is very difficult for me to get out every weekend. Wspecially when bow season was only 28 days last season. I am a weeekend warrior that truly loves to bow hunt. Conpared to most of the other states, we have a very short season. Look at Ohio, NJ, N or S Carolina to compare. Yea, I fish for recreation with my son, but I don't eat anything from Lake Erie, Niagara River or Lake Ontario. I live on the river and would not eat ANYTHING that swims in that water.I get the Conservation License every year and plan to this year too. It would be nice if our money went where it was intended and we could sqweek out a few extra weeks for the guys that can't get out every weekend. I know there are plenty of deer in my area.

RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
NYbowhunter: I hear ya! Ever since I caught a bag of hospital waste{ syringes, I.V. tubes, transfusion bags } in 18 mile { ontario } I haven't eaten a fish from great lakes waters. However, I fish probably 6-8X more now than I ever did.
I'm happy with the length of our big game season-Gun-{ won't ever complain if it IS increased though}. Usually, by the time it's over, my body, and my wife, are thankful. So many states count there season in days, rather than weeks, which IMHO, accounts greatly for the B & C's taken there. Oh, Ia, Ill., Ind.,Ks. Neb., to name a few. |
RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
Boy that money I spent on a lifetime sportsman and archery license when I was 16is looking more and more like money well spent! LOL!

RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
In case you fellows haven't seen it, your N.Y. 2008 deer harvest report is out, also bear. If anyone would like to start a new posting, it's at http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/42232.html I also have the site for the bear report, but I'm sure you guys are capable of finding it.

RE: More money NY.,,,,here we go ..
It would be allright if the money went into consevation, but it goes into the general fund and most of that goes to N.Y.C. Last time I looked there wasn't any hunting seasons there. It's not about to change until we get someone voted in from upstate ny and I don't think that will ever happen.
