It sure has been cold this winter but that doesn't bother the deer, they adapt very quickly to temps. The snow depth is what kills them. Right here in the capital district the deer had a hard time for a few days but the snow packed and became hard and crusted which enables them to get around easily. I live in Greene county and they are really starting to hit the trees and shrubs..true browsers. The coyotes don't stand a chance now that the deer can get around.

In the next few years NY will be a tropical rain forest and we will be hunting tropical species instead of whitetails.:)

Now that's a real hoot. i'd love to se a pic of the guy that found his car covered in ice. My wife would have had a nervous break down!!

Went out today and widened a few shooting lanes .
Actualy spent the whole day trimming and clearing trees and brush so I,ll have a better few of the deer crossing the trails . Foud 7 different deer beds , Also many old and new deer tracks in the field and around the ceder trees . I no they will eat it if needed . Also found a lot od fox and coydog tracks around . Yesterday and today were the firsy days in qite a wile that the temps got around 30 degrees . Next few days are calling for snow and friged temps . What a surprise ..[:@] |
